It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow.
-1 Corinthians 3:7 NLT-
Spring is around the corner!
At least the calendar says so, but with so much snow still on the ground where we are, it can be a bit difficult to believe. I find it similar to faith and prayers – we often don’t see our desired results on our schedule, do we??
Yet, just as we rely on the fact that the seasons will take place, we must also rely on the promises of God to take effect in His own timing and manner. Should we look at the results of our prayers and faith any differently than expecting the change of season and the blessings each one brings? What influences our perceptions of God’s promises?
We rely on the seasons, expecting them, turning the calendar page out of habit even, without question. Because the yearly progress has often repeated itself (for some way more than others! ), I think the revolving seasonal changes are excellent evidence of God’s promised provision for us.
Farmers know cycles — replenishing, sowing, growing, and reaping bounty from their fields and herds. I suppose there are some folks that just assume everything on their table comes from ‘a food factory.’ God’s provision in clouds, rain, sunshine, and temperatures produces what He promises — and by His grace to the whole of the
earth, not just His children!
So, whenever you are waiting on answers to your prayers and you need evidence of
– God’s grace and goodness
– His Promises
– His Provisions
just focus on how many ‘seasons’ you’ve lived through as evidence of the gift of faith!
In Christ,
